Welcome to Episode 51

In today's episode, Dr. Miller and Angel will talk a bit about their trip to Las Vegas for the 2020 Western Veterinary Conference and their time there. We will also talk a bit about our mission statement and why we CARE! We will also share that next week's episode will be Dr. Mike Wanchick, Dr. Miller's Business Partner and co-founder of GVA.

Dr. Miller and Angel will talk about our word of the week which is Nystagmus, which is a vision condition in which the eyes make repetitive, uncontrolled movements. These movements often result in reduced vision and depth perception and can affect balance and coordination.

We briefly mention lobster blood and how one researcher hopes to find a use for the hundreds of gallons dumped down the drains in the North East.

Denver's Mayor ended up vetoing the recall of the Pit Bull ban to many's surprise after he received around 900 letters and a few phone calls against the lifting.

Rotties in the UK are born with elbow problems? Dr. Miller speaks to the issues that most large breed dogs have joint issues due to their size and it's not an uncommon occurrence.

We'll touch a bit on a rare Black Coyote here in GA and how animal control was able to catch him and transport him to a wildlife sanctuary to live out his days in a safe place.

Dr. Miller shares a story about Hawks and how a toy poodle was picked up by one and carried 4 blocks before it dropped her. Luckily she only suffered a broken bone and made a full recovery. This leads us to talk about how Hawks may try and pick up smaller pets and be extra vigilant when letting your small breed dogs outside.

Researchers found a new type of roundworm in Northern Wolverines in Canada. Dr. Miller shares more about roundworms and the dangers they present to pigs and ultimately humans.

Lastly, we'd like to give a should out to Holly and James!
