Welcome to Episode 43.
Hope you all had a great holiday! We did not have a white Christmas here in Atlanta. Instead, it was upwards of 65 degrees!
We will discuss some traditional New Year's Eve traditions such as gold luck treats, the 'peach' drop and more.
Our word of the week is Ptosis. In human medicine, Ptosis is "is when the upper eyelid droops over the eye. The eyelid may droop just a little, or so much that it covers the pupil (the black dot at the center of your eye that lets light in). Ptosis can limit or even completely block normal vision..." but in veterinary medicine, is most commonly presents with dropping in the bottom eyelid. Ptosis is indicative of a more serious disorder known as Horner's syndrome.
In the news, we will talk about the sudden death of Cosmo, the 4-year-old Golden Retriever who starred in Netflix's spin-off, Fuller House.
We'll talk about states who have breed restrictions and how some are allowing banned dogs if they are able to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test as well as a self-proclaimed 'dog whisper' who reunited 2 dogs with their family days before Christmas.
And lastly, we'll talk a bit about the Scruff-A-Luvs. The toy that teaches kids to adopt not shop for pets and that with love they most scruffy pets can be beautiful!
